Medicynical Note: A lovely Sunday in America. We lead the world in mass shootings, school shootings, accidental gun deaths, gun suicides, gun murders, police shootings, police getting shot, house party shootings, neighbor shootings and shootings of classmates and friends.The living hell of America in the 21st Century.
And the folks who made it all possible, the Alito led conservative Republican appointees on the Supreme Court sit at home afraid that innocent demonstrators near their homes might possibly be legally carrying a gun. Kind of pathetic.
And as in “Groundhog Day” it will happen again and again and again until we get it right.
According to the Supreme Court murder and mayhem were the founders desire. This happens again and again and again only in the United States of America. Every other industrialized country seems to understand that it’s not the doors or mental health or high criminality or not enough hopes and prayers. It’s the guns and everyone knows it
Medicynical Note: Families devastated, lives lost and the Republican Party is concerned only with voiding any limit to gun ownership. Every day again and again and again until we get it right.
The murder abetting Republican dominated Conservative Supreme Court sits above it all with some members in hiding because someone near their homes might be legally carrying a weapon or because of their own personal, open for all to see, corruption (yes Justice Thomas, you). They blame it all on the slave owning founders. Amazing what has become of the once civil society of America.
It will happen again and again and again. I’m beginning to feel like the guy in Groundhog Day. Every day, no matter how they find to excuse it—mental health system, police delays, no metal detectors, open doors, thoughts and prayers — it happens again.
Medicynical Note: Another shooting. A “legally” purchased AR-15 obtained four days earlier by a soon to be fired bank employee. It took one minute to kill 5 people. Also shot in the event were two police. One, a new police recruit, with a life threatening injury.
Kentucky is a state with few limits on gun purchases and open carry. It’s as if they want to facilitate the slaughter. The police, always respond, most times heroically but almost always too late. A front line group the police for some inexplicable reason continue to support guns everywhere for everyone. An insane mind set, but then it’s 21st century America where daily public killings are deemed necessary for “freedom.”
Our conservative Supreme Court members made it all possible following the vague notion of originalism. They seem too busy to concern themselves with the collateral damage and are off on luxury trips around the world with “personal” friends or hiding at home fearful of………. guns.
The inevitable always happens. This time at a church school in Tennessee. God’s will? American perfidy? Stupidity? Or simply an insane not-so-Supreme Court.
Medicynical Note: Again and again and again. And we call this “freedom.”
Medicynical Note: Just another couple of days of murder and mayhem in the once civil, once United …… States of America. We are unique and are number 1 in the industrialized world in gun deaths, mass shootings, accidental shootings, school shootings, gun homicides, suicide gun deaths, police shootings, police getting shot, and in the number of guns/capita. We are the world leader.
A 6 year old shot a teacher. Now months after the event the criminal “justice” system can’t decide who should be held responsible. They did decide to not charge the 6 year old.
“Earlier this month, top Newport News prosecutor Howard Gwynn said his office will not criminally charge the boy because he wouldn’t understand the legal system and what a charge means. Gwynn has yet to decide if any adults will be charged.”
Medicynical note: It’s truly absurd that the owner of the gun has not been charged. Newport News clearly has more problems than the 6 year old shooter. I’m not sure whether the delay in attributing responsibility and prosecution is worse than the actual shooting. It’s a grotesque.
Legal inertia has is also evident in the handling of the attempts to suppress voters, illegally influence the vote count and ultimately the violent attempt to reverse the 2020 presidential election by our former President and many members of his political party some serving in the House of Representatives and Senate. Two years out and none of these key planners and instigators have been indicted or in any significant way punished. This too is grotesque.
Medicynical Note: Every day in every way (with guns) more people die. This is not freedom.
And our conservative (sic) Supreme Court justices, who made it all possible, want more protection because they are afraid ……of …..people…….with …….guns. Sicko.
Reaping what the Supreme Court has sowed. The United States of America is the only place on earth where T.S.A.-like guards subject kindergarteners to daily security screening. Is this the “real” America? Is this what conservative America thinks is “freedom.”
Medicynical note: Our conservative Supreme Court majority has decreed that literally any attempt to control access to or the actual carrying of guns on our streets and malls is a threat to “freedom” and unconstitutional. Meanwhile the justices sit at home shaking in fear and complaining about the threat of people in front of their homes who might be carrying a gun. Ironic? Or just sicko?
Meanwhile the rest of us, including our children and grandchildren are subjected to mass shootings, threats of bodily harm, shooting incidents and now the daily screening for weapons as they go to school. “Freedom” in America has become a sick joke.
“On Monday, the chief called the investigation into the shooting “unprecedented.” He said the gun was taken from the child’s home. The boy’s mother had legally purchased the gun, Drew said.”
Medicynical Note: Is it any wonder that our conservative dominated Supreme Court, the facilitators of our gun culture, is fearful of people…….. with…….. guns.
We’ve become the America no one could have possibly anticipated or hoped for, except maybe gun manufacturers. We lead the industrialized world in guns/capita, gun homicides, gun suicides, mass shootings, school shootings, accidental gun deaths, police shootings (both of policemen and of citizens).
“We did not have a situation where someone was going around the school shooting,” Newport News police chief Drew told reporters. “We have a situation in one particular location where a gunshot was fired.”
“He added that the shooting was not an accident.” (Emphasis Medicynic)
“The student has since been taken into custody, and the teacher, a woman in her 30s, was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries that were “believed to be life-threatening”, according to the police department. Drew told reporters the teacher’s condition had improved somewhat by late afternoon.”
Medicynical Note: This really happened…..in…..America. WTF happened to us?
Ironically, the people who made the killings possible and common, the people who gave us the “freedom” to kill, our conservative Supreme Court members, say that are “afraid” of people carrying guns near their homes.
And our brave police who should be leading the fight against gun violence, continue as a group to support deregulating gun ownership. They do this to the point of often refusing to enforce gun laws (Connecticut is just one example).
And we all live in fear. Welcome to Americain 2023.
